Refugee/ Homeless Immigrant and Asylee Support Services

In response to growing needs in the Jacksonville area, Volunteer Haiti Inc. has expanded its mission to support refugees, asylees, and homeless newcomers. Our goal is to provide practical, personalized assistance that promotes independence, integration, and dignity for every individual we serve.

Services Offered

Our refugee and newcomer services include:

  • Education Support: English as a Second Language (ESL), GED tutoring, school enrollment guidance, and translation/interpretation.

  • Employment Readiness: Resume preparation, job search coaching, workforce training referrals, and soft skills development.

  • Basic Needs Navigation: Assistance with food stamps (SNAP), Medicaid, housing referrals, and access to public services.

  • Legal Liaison Support: Referrals to immigration attorneys, document preparation support, and community legal clinics.

  • ID and Documentation Support: Help with obtaining U.S. state IDs, Social Security cards, and birth certificates (as applicable).

  • Language Services: Interpretation and translation in French, Haitian Creole, and Spanish.

  • Community Orientation: Cultural adaptation workshops, local resource navigation, and peer mentorship programs.

Partnering for Impact

Volunteer Haiti Inc. actively collaborates with city agencies, immigrant-led organizations, and housing advocates in Jacksonville to deliver wraparound support that addresses both immediate and long-term needs of vulnerable populations.

Nota Bene: Our services are fully online. We meet clients in public spaces like libraries, FSCJ Cafeteria, or Starbucks upon request. Bring proof of immigration status to meetings.
